Do's & Don'ts

Do's

Do vacuum your car before going. This can save you serious hassles if you get pulled over by the police and they search your car for signs of marijuana - real or imagined.

Do chill out. Things happen slower in Mexico. Rather than stressing over the pace, flow with it.

Do bring sunscreen. Without 30 SPF, an all-day surf session will turn you into oneroasted Americano.

Do speak Spanish. And if you can't, try to bring someone who does. Knowing the lingo opens wondrous doors in Mexico.

Don'ts
Don't be a jerk. A humble, respectful attitude reaps legendary local kindness.

Don't pretend you're in the Baja 500. Even in a sport-utility vehicle, driving fast on Baja's dirt roads can quickly snap an axle or destroy a tire. The speed thrill isn't worth the lost surf time.

Don't f orget to bring water. Besides protecting you from the toilet trots, carrying H20 saves you a trip to the mercado for bottled water.
